Hertz

Hertz (named after Heinrich Hertz), otherwise known as cycles per second or CPS, is a measurement of a frequency — how frequently something happens — expressed as how often it happens every second.

As per the usual SI prefixes, a particularly high frequency can be more conveniently measured in kilohertz or kHz (thousands of times a second), megahertz or MHz (millions of times a second), and so on.
