The R-09 was a portable sound recorder released by Edirol in 2006.

It can write to SD cards at a 24-bit depth, making it both more convenient and higher quality than DAT. It even has a built-in stereo pair of microphones, making it great for both field recordings and simply jotting down musical sketches, while the line in is useful for recording a quick session of noodling around on a synth, ready for chopping up and sampling.
