Basic Latin alphabet
The basic Latin alphabet is the alphabet used to write the Latin language, since repurposed to write the English language. In contrast to the extended Latin alphabet, it's bereft of all those handy diacritics, instead often repurposing the letter E to signify opening up the previous vowel.
It contains a mere 26 letters, although as each letter can be written in the often quite different looking uppercase and lowercase, in practice it's more like 52 letters... and that's before you get into digits, punctuation, and spacing.
It can be typed in using a keyboard with a QWERTY layout, and after a brief dalliance with Morse Code and Baudot, can now be transmitted and stored using ASCII or UTF-8.
