Rüdiger Lorenz

Rüdiger Lorenz was an obscure German electronic musician in the 1980s and 1990s.

Lorenz played his music live[1][2] into his multitrack recorder, rather than layering it up one part at a time. This was similar to Vangelis's workflow, showing impressive musicianship.

I'm not terribly good at genres, but given the use of sprawling modular synthesisers and swirly string machines to make ambient, melodic, often beatless music, I believe it counts as Berlin school.

Quotes

The modular system allows me to programme a lot of things and play them in live performance using one finger. I only have two hands, and I think playing live is more fun for the musician, which is important as music is my hobby; by profession I'm a pharmacist.
