22.05 kHz is a relatively rare sample rate. It's exactly half the frequency of the very popular 44.1 kHz, and so relatively easy to implement on the same hardware, as a more economical option.
It's chiefly used by the S1000, S1100, and S3000 series samplers, along with IBM PC clone sound cards.
