Forking

Forking is a chess term. To fork is to position one of your pieces such that it's simultaneously attacking two or more of your opponent's pieces.[1][2]

The term originally applied only to Pawns attacking others, but now applies to all pieces.

Knights are especially good at forking, as they can effectively jump over other pieces.
