IRIX (the IRIS UNIX) was a proprietary Unix-based operating system developed by SGI from 1988 to 2006, used on their IRIS workstations.
Its default desktop environment, the appropriately named IRIX Interactive Desktop, used the Motif widget toolkit, making its appearance familiar to those accustomed to CDE and vice versa.
