Program (sampler)

In the context of samplers, a program is much the same thing as it is on a synthesiser: a place in its memory that stores all the settings of its various parameters, such as for its envelope generators and LFOs. The main difference is that in addition to that, instead of storing the settings of any oscillators or noise generator, it stores a list of all the samples used, and their ranges. If a program has more than a single sample, it's said to be multisampled.

MIDI

Also as with a synthesiser's programs, MIDI allows a controller to remotely change a sampler's program, changing its sound. Given the nature of samplers, this change can be much more radical than it is on a synthesiser.
