Lego part
Technically, a Lego part is a shape that a single piece of Lego can be manufactured in. Each part is made from its own corresponding mould, which has a unique four or five digit design number. Most parts are available in many different colours.
Colloquially, a part is also an individual tangible piece of Lego made in a specific colour, although technically the combination of shape and colour is more properly known as an element.[1][2]
The most famous Lego parts are the original bricks, though The Lego Group also makes plates, tiles, and many other parts.
Rival manufacturers such as Gobricks also make compatible parts.
In terms of taxonomy, parts can be somewhat arbitrarily grouped together into rough categories such as clips, hinges, angled, curved, and so on. Lego part organisation is a whole topic in itself.
